Cops seize gun and heroin

Major General Sethenya Nxamagele praised police for the arrest and encouraged communities to continue to report criminal activities.

A man (37) was arrested for selling drugs in St Faiths on December 24.

It is alleged that police received information regarding the man who was driving a red Toyota and selling drugs.

On searching him, a firearm with 16 rounds of ammunition, at least 14 slopes of dagga and more than 400 heroin capsules were found in his possession.

He appeared in the Phungashe Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and heroin.

Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele, praised police for the arrest and encouraged communities to continue to report criminal activities.

“Communities are the eyes and the ears of the police, and if everyone can adopt the attitude of ‘fighting crime begins with me’ – we all can enjoy a safer community.”
