Another firearm off the streets

Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm was reported stolen in Pretoria in February.

A man (23) will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

During an intelligence-driven operation, Crime Prevention members at Saps Paddock and Saps Port Shepstone K9 searched a residence in Dressini area in Nyandezulu on Monday evening last week.

A 9mm Jennings pistol and ammunition were recovered, along with a driver’s licence, credit cards and firearm licence, which did not belong to the suspect.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm was reported stolen in Pretoria in February.

The Saps Ugu District Communications office said the public is commended for reporting unlicensed firearms to the police, as well as any other criminal activities.
