Man jailed for strangling daughter to death
Reports indicate that he forcefully took the child from her aunt and strangled her until she died.
A man who strangled his two-year-old daughter to death and assaulted the child’s mother, his ex-girlfriend, will spend more than two decades behind bars.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court recently sentenced Siyabonga Wiseman Ndlovu (34) to 20 years’ imprisonment for murder and two years for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Ndlovu assaulted his ex-girlfriend (40) with a stick in the Bangibizo area on the South Coast on April 3 last year, and the matter was reported at Hibberdene Saps.
However, on April 20, Ndlovu went to see his ex-girlfriend again.
According to police, she was with her current boyfriend when Ndlovu demanded to see their two-year-old daughter. He also threatened to take the child away.
He then went to Esiqungeni, where the child was being cared for by her aunt. Reports indicate that he forcefully took the child and strangled her until she died.
Ndlovu then informed his ex-girlfriend where the child’s body could be found. A murder docket was registered, and he was subsequently arrested.
Investigations were conducted by local detectives, and the matter was later heard at the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
The thorough investigation and evidence led Ndlovu to plead guilty to all charges against him.
