Gang’s double hijacking attempt thwarted
The hijacking involved multiple armed suspects driving five vehicles.
A massive manhunt for a gang of hijackers resulted in success on Tuesday last week.
Hendrik Ludick of Airtrack X-Treme Security said they received information about a cargo truck being hijacked on the N2 between Izingolweni and Harding.
The hijacking involved multiple armed suspects driving in five vehicles.
Shortly after the hijacking was confirmed by a tracking company, Ludick said 101 Recovery Team was dispatched, along with officers from Port Shepstone Saps K9 Unit and Wolf Security.

“While the teams were mobile, a second cargo truck was hijacked in the same area by the same gang,” he said.
However, 101 Recovery Team managed to track and recover the trucks. Only some of the cargo was stolen from one of the trucks.
It didn’t end here.
Ludick said 101 Recovery Team, Risk Manager and Port Shepstone K9 Unit continued to chase the hijackers, with further assistance from ET Security, Mid Illovo Saps, Mountain Rise K9 and Umzinto K9.
One of the hijacker’s vehicles crashed after police spotted it on the R603, with some of the hijackers fleeing into a nearby sugarcane field.
The second vehicle, used in the hijackings, was recovered abandoned in Isipingo.
Ludick said various stolen cargo was recovered from both the vehicles, and he thanked everyone involved in this operation.
Izingolweni Saps will continue with investigations.
