Two arrested for R1.9m fraud

They were granted R500 bail each.

Two people made a second court appearance in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on May 2.

Maheshwara Moonsamy (36) and Sherona Moodley (37) were recently arrested for multiple counts of fraud totalling R1.9m.

They were granted R500 bail each and the matter was postponed to a later date for further investigation.

The Saps Ugu District Communications office said it’s alleged that a company in Shelly Beach was defrauded over a period of about six years, the suspect (Moodley) made payments to her personal bank account instead of the company’s creditors.

Further investigations are currently under way.
