Gamalakhe woman goes missing in Durban
Amanda Nzama's mother said it is untrue that people saw her in Port Shepstone because she would never miss the chance to go home if she was around.
Busisiwe Majola, the mother of a missing Gamalakhe woman, Amanda Nzama, said she wants her daughter to return home unharmed.
Nzama (29) of Qinabout in Gamalakhe was last seen in Durban on March 9.
Majola said she received a call from her daughter’s roommate, saying that she was worried about Nzama, as she had left Durban for Gamalakhe, but had not heard from her for days.
Majola said she last saw her daughter on January 15 when she left for Durban.
“After receiving that call, I started overthinking. I do not know what to believe anymore. After we posted on social media about Amanda going missing, several people said they saw her in the Eastern Cape, while some said they saw her in Port Shepstone,” she said.
She added that what confused her was that she knows that her daughter would never miss the chance to come home if she was in Port Shepstone.
Majola said it was not like Nzama not to return home.
She said they reported her disappearance to Gamalakhe police who said they would take them to Durban.
“The police asked us to wait, they will get back to us. I plead with anyone who has her to return her, and anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact the police,” she said.
Meanwhile, Durban Central police are appealing to the public to locate Nzama.
According to Durban Central Saps’ Sergeant Zanele Khomo, the 29-year-old was last seen near Smith Street in Durban on March 9. Khomo said Nzama was reported missing by her roommate who was unsure what she was wearing at the time.
Anyone who may have seen Nzama, or has any information is urged to call 031 3254071 or 083 8744274, or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
