A 31-year-old man was arrested in Umkomaas recently after being found in possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence.
The crime intelligence driven operation was conducted by Counter Narcotics KZN, Umzinto K9 and Umkomaas Saps.
Police seized the firearm and ammunition, and the case is being investigated by Detective Constable Damien Chinappen.
Umkomaas Saps station commander Colonel Mbongeni Mngadi expressed gratitude to all roleplayers for their collaborative efforts in the fight against crime.
The public is urged to continue reporting illegal and unlicensed firearms to police.
