Man nabbed for impersonating cop in Shelly Beach
An off-duty police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle bearing police number plates.
Port Shepstone police arrested a 56-year-old man for impersonating a police officer.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said on July 22 at about 18:10, a police officer who was on his way home from work noticed a silver Mercedes Benz with police registration number plates at a mall in Shelly Beach.
“The vehicle was circulated and the registration number was found to belong to a different vehicle. The suspect was approached, searched and found with a fake police appointment certificate, fake firearm, a traffic police reflector jacket, blue lights and a fake Hawks working permit ” said Netshiunda.
The suspect is due to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Thursday).
