Quick action by Lazer 911 Rapid Response Units in the early hours of Sunday morning (July 27) led to the arrest of three cable theft suspects in Umtentweni.
Officers responded to reports of dogs barking along Link Road and, on arrival, found rolls of Eskom cable and movement in nearby bushes.
Reaction Officer Dawid Enslin gave chase and arrested one man, who revealed that two accomplices were waiting nearby with a getaway vehicle.
A search of the area soon led to the arrest of the remaining suspects with help from other security companies, community police forum members and patrollers.
The stolen cables and suspects were handed over to Saps.
