Company director to appear in Kokstad Magistrate’s Court over alleged tax offences

The matter came to light during an internal South African Revenue Service investigation.

A 45-year-old company director and his business were issued a court summons for alleged contraventions of the Tax Administration Act and the Value Added Tax Act.

This was carried out by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit in Port Shepstone.

The man and his company are scheduled to appear in the Kokstad Magistrate’s Court on August 28.

According to Warrant Officer Sibu Ncane, the sole director is accused of failing to submit Value Added Tax returns, Employee’s Tax returns, and company income tax returns between July 2018 and July 2024.

The matter came to light during an internal South African Revenue Service investigation, which was later referred to the Hawks for further investigation.

Following what the Hawks described as an intensive probe, summons were served on the director and the company earlier this month.

KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona, commended the investigation team for their work.
