Boboyi child rapist sentenced
The 38-year-old rapist lured the children to his room after sending them to purchase chips for him from a nearby tuckshop.
The Port Shepstone Regional Court handed down two life sentences to rapist Sifiso Popo Mfeka of Boboyi, who raped two children (aged six and 10) in the presence of two other children in 2018.
According to police, the 38-year-old man lured the children to his room after sending them to purchase chips for him from a nearby tuck shop.
The incident was reported to the parents, and the accused was arrested in March 2018.
Mfeka was released on bail and made several court appearances during his drawn out trial.
“Sensing the outcome of the trial, he absconded from court, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. He was traced and rearrested in June 2025 in Margate and remained in custody until his sentencing on August 12,” said Saps.
Mfeka was sentenced to two life sentences for each count and an additional five years each for compelling or causing a child to witness a sexual offence.
Seasoned detective Sergeant Sifiso Gigaba of the Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) was the investigating officer in this case.
Gigaba, who has a record number of life sentences, meticulously and patiently investigated the case, resulting in the desired sentence.
