Scottburgh Regional Court hands three life sentences to Madlala rapist

The 51-year-old was accused of raping three children aged six, 10 and 11 in the Madlala area in 2022.

Alfred Funokwakhe Ngwazi was recently convicted of three counts of rape and sentenced to three life sentences at the Scottburgh Regional Court.

The 51-year-old was accused of raping three children, aged six, 10 and 11, in the Madlala area in 2022.

According to police, one of the girls arrived home late from school and did not seem well to her aunt.

“Upon enquiring from her, the child revealed that she had been raped several times, and that she was not the only one,” said the police.

Saps said that Ngwazi was arrested by the Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) detectives during a raid.

“He remained in custody throughout his trial and was sentenced to three life terms on August 8.”

Ngwazi was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his details are to be entered in the national Register of sex offenders.

Detective Sergeant Mzukhona Gambushe, part of the team of dedicated detectives at the Port Shepstone (FCS), contributed greatly to the sentences achieved.
