Pistols and ammunition seized in Umkomaas
Members of the community are urged to report all crimes.

Several crime intelligence operations were held in the Umkomaas policing patrol area in August.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Ranjith Rampersad, three illegal pistols and 59 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
“Unlicensed and illegal firearms are not merely tools of violence, they are enablers of organised crime, murder, armed robbery, hijackings and gender-based violence,” he said.
“Their widespread availability undermines public safety, erodes trust in law enforcement and perpetuates cycles of violence.”
The acting station commander, Lt Colonel Sanelisiwe Friedah Nkomo commended all role players for the arrest and seizure of the firearms.
“It is in this light I reiterate that every effort will be made to root out illegal firearms and ammunition in our precinct,” said Nkomo.
Members of the community are urged to report all crimes to Umkomaas Saps on 039 9733103, 039 9736107, 039 9736108 or 082 3349766.
