Three men were arrested after police intercepted a vehicle transporting dagga along the R102 near Mtwalume last Friday.
Hibberdene Saps Crime Prevention members, assisted by the Umzinto K9 Unit, acted on reliable information and stopped a white VW Polo near a garage in the area.
A legal search of the vehicle was carried out, during which bales of dagga were discovered in the boot.
The men, aged 27, 34 and 39, were arrested and charged with the illegal transportation of dagga. The recovered dagga weighed more than 17kg.
They are expected to appear in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court soon.
