Dagga transporters arrested

Bales of dagga were found in the boot of the vehicle.

Three suspects transporting dagga in the Mtwalume area were arrested by police last Friday.

At the time, Hibberdene Saps crime prevention members were conducting an operation in the area, and with assistance of Umzinto K9 members stopped a white VW Polo near a garage on the R102.

According to Ugu District police, a legal search was conducted and bales of dagga were found in the boot of the vehicle.

The dagga weighed over 17kg.

The suspects, aged 27, 34 and 39, were arrested and will appear in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court on a charge of illegal transportation of dagga this week.

Police stated that the dagga weighed over 17kg.
