Tweni woman missing for more than 10 days

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

The family of Lihle Kahla (23) feels that she has disappeared from the face of the earth.

Kahla went missing in Port Shepstone on Sunday evening, September 21, and has not been heard from for more than 10 days.

An extensive search for her continues as family, friends and the community grow increasingly concerned for her safety.

Kahla, who lives in Umtentweni was supposed to return home, but never arrived.

She was last seen near the Port Shepstone Country Club at about 19:00, after crossing the bridge to visit shops in town.

Her sister, Anita, said she had first walked to Abingdon Spar in Tweni, but it was closed.

“She then decided to walk to town as it was just a short distance away. Two people later spotted her on her way back to Umtentweni – and they were the last known to have seen her. Her phone was switched off later that evening at about 22:00.”

Anita said they have searched tirelessly in the days since her disappearance – combing through bushes, the golf course, the railway line, beach and surrounding areas – but no trace of her has been found. Most recently, they have travelled to Durban to put up posters.

Anita said what has been so disturbing is that strangers phone them with leads (saying they have seen her) but when they ask for more information, the callers want money.

At the time she went missing, Kahla, was wearing red shorts and a navy golf T-shirt with white stripes on the shoulders.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
