Pub shooting case postponed

In March, the accused was granted bail.

The case of murder-accused Darren Govender was postponed on Tuesday last week to the Port Shepstone Regional Court for October 21.

Govender (37) handed himself over to police on February 12, after an incident in which businessman Brad Hughes (54) was shot and killed at a pub in Shelly Beach.

In March, he was granted bail. The court set bail at R15 000.

This ruling followed a bail application in which Govender, an assistant superintendent law enforcement officer for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, pleaded not guilty to the schedule six charge of premeditated murder.
