Two shot dead in separate incidents in Park Rynie and Umzinto

Last Friday, a young man was fatally shot in Umzinto.

Mid South Coast community members were left stunned after a daylight shooting last Thursday (October 16).

Bongani ‘Steh’ Mnguni (42) was shot dead outside the Park Rynie Spar on Caine Road, near the R102 traffic lights.

He was seated outside the shop with his back towards the road when two gunmen exited a vehicle and shot him multiple times before fleeing.

A CCTV video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

A case of murder has been opened for investigation at Scottburgh Saps.

“The motive for the killing is unclear and will form part of the police investigation,” said police.

A day later (October 17), another shooting incident occurred in the Umzinto area.

Police responded to a scene where the body of a man in his early 20s was found on the side of the road.

Reports indicate that he was driving a white Mitsubishi tow truck when he was shot at several times.

A passenger also sustained gunshot wounds, and was taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

The driver was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

Two suspects were seen fleeing. Cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated by detectives at Umzinto Saps.
