The Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court found a man from V Section in Umkomaas guilty of assault and kidnapping last week.
According to police, on October 24 last year, the man assaulted and kidnapped his girlfriend.
Umkomaas Saps was able to locate the couple and the boyfriend was arrested.
The Scottburgh court granted him bail and he attended numerous court sessions until his sentencing.
He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, suspended for a period of five years.
Police have stated that the man’s identity cannot be made public due to the victim’s safety.
