Police seize pistol with filed-off serial number in Port Edward

The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.

During a stop-and-search operation in the Braemar area, Port Edward on May 3, Saps Port Edward Task Team observed a man acting suspiciously.

On searching him, officers recovered a black Norinco pistol with four live rounds of ammunition. The serial number had been filed off.

The 35-year-old man was arrested and charged accordingly.

The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to determine whether it was used in the commission of other crimes.
