Life in jail for Dududu rapist
The victim was able to identify her rapist, which helped police locate and arrest him.
The Scottburgh Regional Court has sentenced Mjabuliseni Thulani Khumalo (44) to life imprisonment for the rape of a 22-year-old woman in Qiko Location in Dududu in 2022.
As per police reports, on Christmas Eve that year, the victim was asleep at her home when she heard repeated knocking on her window, which woke her up.

When she went to the window, she realised the man was familiar to her, and he pointed a firearm at her, forcing her to open the door.
Once she did, he raped her twice and fled.
The woman reported the crime to police, and as she could identify him, he was found the next day. Before his arrest and on spotting police vans, Khumalo attempted to make an escape through bushes, but fell and broke his leg.
An ambulance was called to the scene, thereafter he was taken into custody.
After several court appearances, he was sentenced on May 5. Khumalo was declared unfit to possess a firearm and his details will be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders.
The investigating officer for this case was Detective Sergeant Vuyiswa Dlamini.
