Teenager and man arrested after violent robberies in Oshabeni
Both have appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court.
A man (30) and a teenager (17) were arrested for robberies at Oshabeni in Mehlomnyama on June 28.
A woman (31) was walking home when she was accosted, assaulted and robbed at gunpoint by three armed men
They fled on foot, taking cash, her personal documents and items of clothing.
The group then met a man (28) whom they assaulted and attempted to rob; however, they were disturbed by an oncoming vehicle and fled.
A case of robbery with aggravating circumstances was registered for investigation.
Detectives did not hesitate to gather information which led them to Dweshula location where a man (30) was arrested and linked to the robberies.
A further search led police to the recovery of two firearms, a Beretta of which the serial number was filed off and a Banner.
The teenager was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as robbery.
Both appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on June 30.
