Building contractor rearrested while out on bail

The Chatsworth man, who targets pensioners is facing multiple fraud and theft charges.

A building contractor known as Russell Reddy, whose real name is Yensagren Ganas Reddy (54), was rearrested on July 16 while out on bail.

He was arrested at a house where he was allegedly in the process of carrying out another scam.

Reddy appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on July 17, where his bail was revoked.

He will remain in custody after the matter was postponed to September.

Reddy, of Bayview in Chatsworth, was initially arrested on September 30, 2025 and faces more than seven charges, including fraud and theft.

Operating under the business name P&R Construction and Maintenance, he is accused of targeting elderly people on the South Coast by offering home renovations and maintenance work before allegedly disappearing with deposits or payments without completing the work.

He had previously been released on R5000 bail.
