Cops on the lookout for Hibberdene killers

Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and avoid the area where possible.

Police are investigating a triple murder and attempted murder after four men were shot at the Hibberdene taxi rank on September 18.

According to Saps, three men, aged 35, 40 and 45, died from their injuries, while a fourth man was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Saps spokesperson Sergeant Thenjiswa Ngcobo said police are searching for the suspects.

Cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known.

At the time of the incident, Lazer 911 reported that its security response teams were dispatched following reports of multiple gunshots at the Hibberdene taxi rank.

It was also initially reported that four men had been shot dead.

Lazer 911 said preliminary information from the scene indicated that the shooting may be linked to a drug-related dispute.

A silver/grey Volkswagen Polo was reportedly seen leaving the scene in the direction of the freeway and is suspected to have been involved.
