Short stint for stent: Pat Symcox ‘on top of his game’ after medical procedure
The former cricketer was bowled over by the messages of support during his short time in hospital.

Businessman and former South African cricketer Pat Symcox – a swashbuckling off-spinning all rounder – is taking a few days off to rest at home after having two stents inserted. The procedures took place in a hospital in Durban this week.
But rest assured, he is upbeat and certain that he will be back making his rounds at his RE/MAX offices by Monday next week.
Symcox said he has been battling to walk – this was affecting his golf game, he quipped – for some while now. It was established he had a blocked artery near the knee on his left leg. As a result, it was decided by the doctors to insert the stents.

He was booked into a hospital in Umhlanga, and the operation has been a success.
His wife Estelle took to Instagram saying: “You can’t keep this man down. From ICU, to the general ward, in the car and on his way back (all in one day), to his most favourite place in the world called home. I will now be calling him ‘Ratel’ Patrick Symcox.”
