Protesters take to streets in Umzinto

Some sources believe the protest is to do with sanitation issues.

Earlier today (August 1), reports came flooding in on various social media platforms indicating that there is protest action at multiple locations in Umzinto.

Roads were being blocked by protesters and many residents were unable to get in or out of the town.

Tyres were burnt across roads and garbage bags were emptied out as well.

It is unclear at this point in time as to what the protest action is for specifically. Some sources believe it is to do with sanitation issues.

Security services and police have been monitoring the situation.
