Boosting youngsters’ self-confidence

The Scars team would like to help people discover self-acceptance, regardless of what they look like or have been through.

Umzinto’s Kwanele Madondo visited Pennington Primary School for an educational and entertaining talk on self-confidence, and emotional and physical scars last week.

He was joined by Saps, Correctional Services, representatives from the Departments of Health and Social Development and The Scars team.

The Scars is a reality show Madondo began in September, to give people with emotional or physical scars a platform to speak freely and share their stories, knowing that they have a strong support system available.

The youngster also strives to help people accept themselves for who they are, regardless of what they look like or what they may have been through.

He decided to introduce The Scars programme to local schools to help learners in need.
At Pennington, Madondo and his crew motivated the learners to be more confident and love themselves, no matter what they face in life.

The learners were also informed that they should not be ashamed of how they look or what they are going through as The Scars team will always be there for them.

“When I was sharing my story and how I got my scars, they all felt sorry for me and showed me so much of love and support, which was something I never expected from such young souls,” said Madondo.

“It was such an awesome event interacting with the learners, and I pray that we can bring The Scars to even more schools.”

Big things lie ahead for Madondo and The Scars team as they are planning to launch an online radio station soon. Auditions will be announced on their social media platforms.
