Author aims to empower men

The King In You is filled with practical insights and plays the role of a friendly guide, helping men cultivate emotional resilience.

Nonkululeko Madondo, or Dr Angiyukweswela as she is better known, has recently released a new book titled The King In You.

She has made a name for herself in the mid-South Coast area over the years, particularly in Scottburgh and Umzinto, through her non-profit Angiyukweswela Therapy Foundation, which advocates for gender equality and men’s mental health.

This multi-talented woman juggles family life with being a businesswoman, fashionista, marriage therapist, plus-size influencer/model, community activist, philanthropist and, on top of all that, she is an aspiring actress.

The book is aimed at creating awareness and providing inspiration to those who can relate to male children’s journeys to adulthood.

It also focuses on men’s mental health matters.

“Readers are invited to explore the emotional journey men navigate, unravelling shared challenges and heartaches from childhood to adulthood,” she said.

“It gently encourages you to embark on a journey of self-discovery, urging you to discover the strength within.”

She said she decided to publish The King In You because she wanted something of this calibre to ‘go global and help empower males’.

“The book can be considered a safe and comfortable space for those that have gone through the journey, or who are still on the journey, and have faced challenges and are not yet ready to talk and seek therapy.”

The King In You is filled with practical insights and plays the role of a friendly guide, helping men cultivate emotional resilience.

“It serves as a compass, guiding them through life’s ups and downs, empowering them to face challenges with grace.”

Dr Angiyukweswela said the book would be suitable for anyone raising a male child, or even for those who have a husband, brother or any other male at home, or in society, that they would like to reach out to.

“I believe this book has the power to help reduce gender-based violence, create more awareness on men’s mental health, including things like depression, suicides and divorce,” she said.

“Within these pages, the hidden royalty in every man is unveiled, motivating them to embrace and assert control over their inner strength.”

The founder of Siyaphambile Women’s Organisation, Lindokuhle Mbile of Umzinto, is helping with distribution, as well as Chelsey Khwela from Amandawe, founder of Ooowh Man Products.

The author was also recently recognised by The Book Behind Awards.

These awards aim to promote reading and writing and honour local authors.

She was nominated for three categories: Best Book Cover, Best Awareness Book and Best Upcoming Female Author. The winners will be announced later this year.
