Water gushes from burst meter

The burst water meter leaked for more than 24-hours.

A burst water meter on Dairy Road, Marburg, was leaking on Tuesday last week.

Many residents contacted the Ugu District Municipality call centre and received reference numbers.

However, the water was still gushing on Wednesday morning.

Ward 17 councillor Ajith Rajaram also contacted the call centre.

“It is believed that the pipe burst due to a fire in the area. As residents reported the leak immediately and received reference numbers, I don’t understand why it hasn’t been repaired. It’s been more than 24 hours, and not fixed,” said Ajith.

Ugu was contacted for comment, but none was received at the time of going to press.
