Umkomaas finalist needs your votes

Ekta Somera has made quite a name for herself in KZN as a South African youth activist, poet and community leader.

Umkomaas’s Ekta Somera has ended her Women’s Month in one of the best ways possible.

The 25-year-old has been selected as a finalist in the Lotus FM Women of Substance Awards under the Youth Icon category.

As per the popular radio station, this event will be to recognise South African women who are excellent achievers in their respective fields and who are using their voices and positions to effect powerful change in their communities.

These women are said to be trailblazers who inspire, motivate and uplift others around them in unfortunate circumstances.

Over the past few years, Ekta has made quite a name for herself in KZN as a South African youth activist, poet and community leader.

She is the author of two poetry collections and the founder of the Paper Trail Literary Journal, which showcases emerging literary talents.

As a community mobiliser for Youth Capital, Ekta plays a crucial role in advocating for policy changes to combat youth unemployment in the country. Her work continues to leave a lasting impact on both literature and social activism.

Ekta is delighted to be a finalist for the Women of Substance Awards and would like her local community to help her win this title.

Show your support by SMS’ing WOSA 11 to 33192 to vote. There are no voting limits and SMSes are charged at R1.50.

“Your votes and support will be greatly appreciated,” said Ekta.

The awards will be held at the end of the month.
