JUST IN: Bakkie plunges off Umzumbe bridge

Paramedics got the call for assistance before 06:00 this morning.

A single cab bakkie crashed through the Umzumbe bridge during the early hours of this morning.

It appears the driver of the bakkie had plunged off the bridge and had crashed into one of the bridge’s support columns.

The Umzumbe riverbed is currently dry.

Glen Preston of Med-Evac said paramedics got the call at 05:45 this morning.

He said that once on the scene it was established the driver had moderate injuries.

He was transported to hospital by EMRS.
