Greig needs urgent kidney surgery
Greig has commenced with medical assistance at a government facility, but after one month, he is still no closer to having the tumour removed.
Most people have had the privilege of meeting, chatting, paddling, surfing or drinking coffee with local resident Greig Nilsen.
Just over a month ago, Greig was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour that has taken over his entire right kidney.
He urgently needs nephrectomy surgery to remove the kidney and tumour.
Greig, unfortunately, does not have the funds for the nephrectomy to be performed in a private hospital where, by this stage, the procedure would already have been done.
There is also the possibility of further post-operative treatment being required.
Greig has commenced with medical assistance at a government facility, but after one month, he is still no closer to having the tumour removed.
As there is an urgency for Greig to have this surgery and possible further treatment, making use of government facilities is a lengthy process, and time is sadly not something Greig has on his side.
