Flower power for Port Edward Methodist

According to its members, the Port Edward Methodist Church supplies water to the community.

Members of the Port Edward Methodist Church recently raised money to help with its electricity bill.

The church’s Martin van Zyl said the church annually hosts fundraisers through the Plant Market Clivia Show.

He said the church supplies water to the Port Edward community, saying that its electricity account sometimes shoots up to R8 000 per month.

Emily Tshayinca shows off some of the beautiful plants.

“This is why we are raising money for the church. The church does not have the funds to assist in what it does for the community. For the show, we have the best breeders on the South Coast who breed plants such as marula, orchids and more,” he said.

Van Zyl said they do this because Port Edward is a place where people love plants and love each other.

“We are a community-based place, and you are welcome to come and visit us.”
