Class of 2024 wished well

The mayor of Umdoni wishes the class of 2024 the best of luck during this time.

The final lap for the class of 2024 has arrived.

Thousands of learners began writing their National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations on Monday this week.

Several days before the commencement of these examinations, Umdoni Local Municipality mayor Clr Mblali Cele-Luthuli wished all learners well as they come to the end of their schooling chapter.

She visited Kwa-Hluzingqondo High School last week to personally wish learners good luck and offer words of encouragement and motivation.

Cele-Luthuli expressed her pride in this school as it achieved a 100% past rate last year and revealed that she was also a learner there.

“As you see me standing in front of you today, I am the mayor of Umdoni. I was serious about my school studies because it is important to have your certificate that lays the foundation that will help you succeed in life,” she said.

The mayor also presented stationery packs to the learners.

After her visit, the school took part in the signing of the NSC examination pledge.

Under Ugu, the Umdoni circuit achieved a pass rate of 82.2% in 2023. Some of the other top-performing schools were Scottburgh High, with a 98.9% pass rate, Gugulesizwe Secondary with 85.9%, Umzinto Secondary with 84.9%, Roseville Secondary, with 81.1% and Malangeni Secondary with 79.2%.

The mayor wishes Umdoni’s class of 2024 the best of luck during this time.
