RNM protest to continue on Tuesday (tomorrow)
Workers marched to RNM last Friday, demanding o speak to municipal manager Khetha Zulu.
Workers are gearing up for another protest at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality main offices tomorrow.
According to the workers, RNM was formed after the amalgamation of Hibiscus Coast Municipality and Ezinqoleni Municipality in 2016.
As a result, RNM was meant to receive a higher grading, along with corresponding salary increases.

However, they allege that only councillors and heads of departments (HoDs) have received these benefits, while the majority of employees remain in the same grading.
Workers marched to RNM last Friday and demanded to speak to municipal manager Khetha Zulu.
They said they only had one question for him: “When are you paying us our money?”
Their expectations were met with disappointment as the meeting between Samwu leadership and Zulu extended longer than anticipated, leading to dissatisfaction with the outcomes.
They said they will protest again tomorrow.

Spokesperson for RNM Simon April says they are aware of the protest taking place tomorrow.
“The workers’ matter will be discussed in council tomorrow and then a meeting will be held with them based on what council has decided.”
