Youngster raises funds for SPCA

The auction raised much needed money for the animal welfare society.

Little shopper Ryan Tedder (9) has raised R4000 for the Lower South Coast SPCA.

This comes after two months of collecting and swopping to get a complete Checkers Little Shop collection of 44 miniatures that mimic actual products sold at the store.

Ryan, from Christian Family College in Margate, then auctioned his collection online, swopping his mini collection for a donation for the SPCA.

“There had been quite a few offers, and I took him to hand over his collection to the SPCA. We just want more youngsters to be inspired to give back. We are the change we wish to see,” said his mother, Carien Tedder.

“The auction inspired others to do the same for their minis for other causes as well. It was a huge community effort, and I couldn’t be more proud of the South Coast,” said Carien.

Carien said they started an auction on a Facebook group requesting pet food, but it turned into a pledge of R2000 from Rordon Cowley, and the highest bid of R2000 was from Leyton Vincent.

Both made a direct payment to the SPCA, and Leyton’s mother picked up the collection for her grandchildren.
