Brilliant fun at Shafts’ bake off

The Shafts' year end lunch will be held on November 28.

Baking, testing and ‘guessing’ skills were recently put to the test at an event called Fun Food Fantasia held at the Uvongo Tennis Club.

Chairperson of the Self Help Association for the Seniors (Shafts), Colleen Haggard, said the delightful event could be described as ‘Master Chef meets Bake Off’.
And it was such fun!

Colleen’s brother, Paul Korb, was the coordinator, and they had a group of 42 wonderful competitors.

The Shafts’ Kitchen ruled with a food quiz, ingredient searching, apple peeling, egg whisking, blindfolded food tasting and ended with blindfolded cake icing.

Louis Fouche, who will be 91 on December 1, was the best blindfolded cake decorator.

The Shafts’ year-end lunch will be held on November 28.
