Police confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is under way to find out the cause of the blaze.

Firefighters and emergency services worked hard to fight a raging fire at Viking Naks, a chips factory near Louisiana yesterday (Wednesday) at about 17:00

Police confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is under way to find out the cause of the blaze.

A black cloud of smoke surrounds the premises.

According to Mohammed Saleji from Viking Naks, the business was closed yesterday.

It is believed that the fire started at the rear of the building.

“It is unknown what caused the blaze. We are thankful that no one was injured and that the flames were contained by our fire department who are still monitoring the premises.”

The company issued the following statement:

“The Viking team extends their sincere gratitude to the brave souls of Port Shepstone who selflessly assisted during the incident. We are grateful to our neighbours for their quick response.”

The fire started at the back of the factory.

“We are indebted to the firefighters whose brave hearts, strong hands and collaborative skills contained the fire with precision. The Almighty has blessed us to be surrounded by family and friends who stood by our side.”

“We acknowledge our loving community for their sacrifice throughout the night during the crisis.”
