Scallywag show a huge success

Scallywag was grateful and thanked all her generous sponsors for making the evening a fantastic success.

Valentine’s Day was a special treat for Scallywag fans.

The South African singer Charlene van Rooyen, fondly known as ‘Scallywag’, was born in Brits and currently lives in Pretoria. She started singing in primary school and decided to pursue it as a career at age 16.

The evening at Orcas Pub in Sunwich Port began with a fantastic pre-show by award-winner Morne Lesley.

Scallywag then appeared on stage.

Not only did South Coasters fall in love with her – a brilliant performer – but it was love all round, with even a marriage proposal on stage by Riaan Priebe to Belinda Grobler.

“The almost five-hour show was epic, and some Scallywag prizes were given away. The evening was packed with laughs, jokes and great music. Scallywag brought joy and new life to the coast,” said a fan, Surina Davidson.

Scallywag was grateful and thanked all her generous sponsors for making the evening a fantastic success.

She is well-known in 49 countries, and she was proud to announce her international tour starts on September 1.

She said goodbye to the South Coast with a smile on her face, sand on her feet and wet clothing from taking a last dip, but, more so, she looks forward, with much excitement, to return to the coast in December.

Riaan Priebe proposed to Belinda Grobler on Valentine’s Day.
