Tidy Towns wins battle of the flavours

The competition was well attended, the audience was also given a taste of what was given to the participants.

Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate won a R10 000 cash prize at the Southcoast Mall Battle of the Flavours competition last Saturday.

Two representatives each from South Coast Hospice, Tidy Towns Shelly to Margate, Ignite Revolution, Southern Africa Animal Cancer Association and the Lower South Coast SPCA participated, along with Herald journalists Fundiswa Mzobe and Ntandoyenkosi Dlamini.

Participants were blindfolded and tasted eight starters, seven mains and seven desserts.

After tasting each dish, they had to write down what they ate and the restaurant it came from.

Stephen Herbst of Tidy Towns, who was also the emcee for the event, said that he will donate R1 000 to each NPO to help them with their needs.

So much fun was had, and each participant received a gift hamper from the mall.
