Pub shooting case postponed

Further investigation is under way.

Darren Govender (37) will make another court appearance on Wednesday, June 18.

The case was set down for last Thursday in the Port Shepstone District Court but was postponed for further investigation.

Govender, who was an assistant superintendent law enforcement officer for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, faces three charges: premeditated murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and reckless use of a firearm in public.

Govender handed himself over to police on Wednesday, February 12, after an incident in which businessman Brad Hughes (54) was shot and killed at a pub in Shelly Beach.
