Volunteer to tackle snares in Sunwich Port this Saturday

The snare removal forms part of ongoing efforts to safeguard wildlife.

There will be a snare removal operation, aimed at protecting local wildlife, in Sunwich Port this Saturday, from 10:00.

Volunteers will make their way along the surrounding trails and bushes, clearing snares and dismantling set-ups found in the area.

Craig Saunders, founder of South Coast Anti-Snare Group, encouraged everyone to come prepared with backpacks, refreshments, snacks, long pants to guard against thorns, sturdy footwear, and, if possible, bush knives, side cutters or pliers.

To join the WhatsApp group and to receive the exact starting point to be shared by pin drop, contact Craig on 072 2587907.

To ensure safety, first aid kits and radios will be available to those joining the initiative.

The snare removal forms part of ongoing efforts to safeguard wildlife and reduce the impact of illegal hunting in the area.

Everyone, young and old, are invited to join. The terrain has been described as easy, making it accessible for volunteers of varying fitness levels.
