JUST IN: Young man critically injured in Melville farm attack

Two separate shootings on the South Coast this afternoon have left the community in shock.

The South Coast community is praying for the recovery of a 22-year-old man who was shot on a farm in upper Melville this afternoon (Wednesday) at about 14:35.

According to Glen Preston of Med-Evac, who responded to the scene, the young man had arrived home while an attempted housebreaking was in progress.

“He saw the intruders and was on the phone to his father to come help, when a gunfight pursued. He was shot four times.”

Preston treated him on the scene before he was airlifted by Netcare 911 to a Durban hospital in a critical condition.

Man shot dead on N2 near Tweni

In a separate incident, a man was shot multiple times on the N2 near the Tweni toll this afternoon.

It is believed the victim was hiking when two men approached him and opened fire. The man died on the scene.

The road was temporarily closed while emergency services and police attended to the scene.
