Rotary course grows youth leaders
Learners are given an opportunity to learn and grow, not only as human beings, but as leaders.
The Rotary Club of Port Shepstone hosted its 60th Rotary Youth Leadership course at Port Shepstone High last week, with learners from around KZN.
On their first day, last Sunday, parents attended a session where the learners were welcomed and given rules and instructions for the week-long course, and left in the safe hands of their mentors and Rotarians.

The week challenged the learners’ values, attitudes, knowledge, skills and leadership competencies.
Learners were given an opportunity to learn and grow, not only as human beings, but as leaders.
Guest speaker Ugu District Chief Education Specialist Omesh Maharaj gave some motivation to the learners.

“Be a leader that you want to follow and also remember that you are what you do and that who you are is not just a destiny, but it is also who you choose to be.”
Port Shepstone High principal Kerry McKillen said that the school loves to host this course because it is meaningful and this is where leaders are shaped.
“My journey was also shaped through this course and I am certain that it will do the same for all of you.”
