Disturbing find at Southport beach leave beachgoers traumatised

What began as a normal day at the beach turned into a nightmare for two boys who stumbled upon what looked like a young girl’s body.

Two beachgoers made a horrifying discovery earlier today on their way home from the beach when they came across what appeared to be the body of a young girl wrapped in a blanket under the Southport bridge.

One of the boys was so shocked that he ran from the scene, cutting his foot in the process.

They immediately sought help from the nearest home, asking the resident to contact Lazer 911 and the police.

Pieces of clothing items found at the scene.

A Lazer 911 reaction officer attended the scene and reported that upon arrival he saw no body present under the bridge.

Still deeply concerned about what they had seen, the boys returned to the scene later that afternoon with the Lazer 911 officer and then, Southport Saps members.

No body was found, but disturbingly, clothing and blankets were discovered at the scene, seemingly belonging to a young girl.

Police bag items from the scene.
The boys remain traumatised by the incident and insist they saw the body of a young girl, about 11 or 12 years old, wrapped tightly in a blanket with her eyes and mouth open.

There are also growing concerns from residents about homeless individuals loitering under the nearby bridge and in the surrounding area.

If anyone saw or knows anything it would be helpful if they contacted Southport Saps.

This is an evolving story and will be updated once feedback from the police is received.
