N2 toll rebate to come to an end for 100% frequent users at Oribi

The rebate was introduced in May after the temporary closure of the Mzimkhulu River bridge for urgent repairs.

The 100% frequent user rebate at the Oribi Toll Plaza will come to an end at 23:59 on Tuesday, December 2. This was announced by Sanral on Wednesday.

The rebate was introduced in May to provide financial relief to local commuters diverted onto the N2 due to the temporary closure of the Mzimkhulu River bridge for urgent repairs.

In September, a further three-month extension was granted to align with the bridge construction schedule. While work on the bridge is still under way, significant progress has been made. As a result, the 100% rebate will be cancelled next Tuesday, with motorists reverting to the standard frequent user discount.

With the KZN Department of Transport (DoT) silent on the project’s progress, concerns have been raised if a single lane will be open to traffic by December 2.
