Botanist Elsa Pooley to sign new book in Shelly Beach

The renowned author will be at Southcoast Mall this Saturday, December 6, for the launch and signing of her new book, South African Indigenous Garden Plants.

Renowned South African botanist, landscaper and author Elsa Pooley will be at Ramsgate Stationers at Southcoast Mall this Saturday, December 6, at 09:00 for 09:30, for the launch and signing of her new book, South African Indigenous Garden Plants.

The book features more than 2 400 indigenous plant species and is set to become an essential reference for gardeners, landscapers, horticulturists and anyone passionate about local biodiversity.

This beautifully illustrated large-format book showcases some 2400 South African indigenous plants.

It opens with an introduction on climate, garden design, wildlife-friendly spaces and maintenance, followed by an encyclopaedic plant catalogue divided into 13 chapters – from bulbs and orchids to aloes, fynbos, shrubs, grasses and trees. Each section includes planting and care tips, plus full-colour photographs, descriptions and flowering times.

The publication concludes with a practical plant selector. Organisers are also hoping to launch Pooley’s new orchid book, pending printing schedules.
