Clean up collects 36 bags of rubbish in Port Shepstone
The group picked up all the litter strewn in a bush adjacent to Suid-Natal Primary.
A total of 36 black bags of litter were collected from a bushy area adjacent to Suid-Natal Primary last Friday morning.
The clean-up involved volunteers from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Umzumbe Chalets and South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE), all of whom contributed their time and effort to make the area cleaner and safer for the community.
Before-and-after photos captured the transformation, showing the remarkable impact of everyone’s hard work – the area was left spotlessly clean.
The initiative was led by Karen Putter from Umzumbe Chalets. She explained the motivation behind the clean-up:
“My son attends Suid-Natal, and the area where parents can park their cars is filthy. On several occasions, I’ve even seen people urinating there – perhaps thinking, ‘it’s already dirty, so why not add more’.”
Karen also thanked the sponsors who supported the initiative.
