Port Shepstone musician pens new song

Indira Ramadeen has also been nominated in the vocalist category of the Shakthi Beats Awards Show.

Popular artist Indira Ramadeen of Albersville, Port Shepstone recently penned another song – Jhoomeke Mera Dil – a lively love tune.

Also, she has been nominated in the vocalist category of the Shakthi Beats Awards Show at Sibaya Casino, where she will be performing live on February 28.

“I feel humbled, very grounded actually. The world of music and writing is part of who I am, so I know to be grateful for it and to appreciate these types of accolades,” she said.

Talented Indira started her journey by singing along to music on the radio at a young age and progressed to singing Hindi songs for religious groups on the South Coast. From there, she blossomed into a songwriter and was soon singing her own compositions.

She has been writing songs for many years, and in 2022 her song, Kambaqth Ishq, sung by Priya Singh became well-known in the South African music industry. It was recorded for radio and television. The song title which means, This Wretched Love, was aired with a digital launch at Carnival City during a Lotus FM show presented by the late Zakiya Ahmmed.

Indira is an award-winning lyricist and has written a number of songs which were produced and aired on Lotus FM. Her songs have topped the charts.

She is also a playwright and a registered and published author. Being a qualified teacher, she now tutors English.
