Retirement looms for Umkomaas career cop

During his 36 years of service, he received numerous medals.

Umkomaas Saps Warrant Officer Kevin Gerald George will be retiring after 36 years of loyal service.

He executed duties in the community service centre, crime prevention and served on an adhoc basis as a relief commander in the community service centre responsible for frontline service and promoting Batho Pele.

During his years of service, he was awarded a 75-year commemorative medal, Saps medal combating terrorism, Saps 10-year commemoration medal, 10 years loyal service medal, 20 years loyal service medal, a Soccer World Cup medal, a centenary medal and 30 years loyal service medal.

George’s career highlights were serving clients, promoting service excellence, compliance, command and control.

Throughout his career, he demonstrated dedication to Saps, and leaves behind a positive image in policing.

“His passion to protect the badge and for justice is unmatched. He is one of our fine officers who ensures that the flag is flying high,” explained Captain Ranjith Rampersad, Umkomaas Saps communications officer.

“George served unwaveringly as a committed official who mentored numerous newly appointed police officers under his command. He will be retiring at the end of March, and we will remember him as an officer of integrity, selflessness sacrifice, leadership and discipline.”

Acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Mthebeni Zungu thanked George for his invaluable services and wishes him an enjoyable retirement.
